The junior's version of the Olympic Games for 14 to 18 year old athletes. Most athletes who achieve Youth Olympic success will graduate to the next Olympics in two years' time and do the same at senior level.
Famous Examples
Luguelin Santos, the track and field athlete who won gold in Boys' 400 metres and medley relay at Singapore 2010, went on to win a silver medal at London 2012.
Qiu Bo, the diver who won the Boys' 3m springboard and 10m platform at Singapore 2010, took silver in the latter discipline at London 2012.
Sam Oldham, the gymnast who won the Boys' Horizontal Bar at Singapore 2010, took team-all around bronze at London 2012.
Viktoria Komova, the gymnast who won the Girls' All Around, Vault and Uneven Bars at Singapore 2010, was All-Around, individual and team, silver medallist at London 2012.
Chad le Clos, the swimmer who won the 200m individual medley at Singapore 2010 has achieved the rare feat of being Olympic Champion at both Youth and Senior level by taking 200m butterfly gold at London 2012.
